MEETING GEORGE "JAMES BOND" LAZENBY

One of my favourite annual events in London, the London Film and Comic Con from Showmasters, is such a fun, enjoyable, unique experience and must attend for any fan of film and comics. Based on the Comic Cons of the US such as San Diego, the event offers fans a chance to interact and meet with their idols from a variety of fandoms. Just an example of this year, would be the guests from hit tv show Game of Thrones as well as the iconic James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, George Lazenby.

As an avid collector of film memorabilia, I was able to purchase original production documents from a selection of my favourite films, including Con Air, The Specialist and LA Confidential. These detailed documents would be sent out to press companies in preparation of the film’s release, prior to the internet and were often the first promotional materials offered for the films. A few items even included 35mm reels from the film and as a fan of film and now filmmaker, I was so happy to find these excellent pieces, and at such an affordable price.

As a filmmaker and creator of VR, the venue offers a safe and fun environment to take photos and is a great place for young photographers to experiment in working in venues and events. Of course, you can also get a great photo of the amazing Cosplayers and perhaps a selfie with Chewbacca like I did!

As an Actor, I would fulfil a lifelong dream of finally meeting George Lazenby, who starred as James Bond in On her Majesty’s Secret Service. Currently starring in my own feature film, The London Detective as James Temple, I cannot stress how amazing it was to meet James Bond, and get a photograph also taken with him next to the iconic James Bond car, the Aston Martin DB5. Having met Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore, the first and current James Bonds remain in my quest to have met and sought guidance from my most adored movie character of all time.

I would like to thank George Lazenby for this opportunity and to the entire Showmasters team and volunteers who truly made this an unforgettable experience.
